Rain, rain go away.

Thursday, October 25th, 2007

Not from here.  It is welcome to rain here as much as it wants.  I want it to go away from FL just for the weekend.  🙂  I fly out tonight.  The race is Saturday and then Sunday we are going to my favorite restaurant and the Mickey’s No So Scary Halloween party.  People dress up for it, but my plans right now are to just wear my medal and maybe my glow-in-the-dark race shirt.  🙂  I will try to post from FL, but it is dial-up, so I am sure you understand if I don’t.  I will be back Monday with a race report.

Last night I was stuck on the dreadmill because of the weather.  It was wet and I would have run in the rain if I didn’t have to pack my shoes for the flight today.  I got in 3 miles.  Right now I am getting ready to head downstairs for one last FIRM workout before I leave.

Metric Marathon

Friday, September 14th, 2007

So I was overlooking the schedule of local races next to my Marathon training plan and looking for places where I could squeeze more races in.  Aside from the random Saturday 5K and the things I already have planned one more race caught my eye.  A Metric Marathon in Columbia.  By mertric marathon in means you would run 26.2K instead of 26.2 miles, which brings you in just around 16 miles.  By the looks of my current schedule it would be sandwiched right between my two 20 milers.  So now I am having some internal debate of whether or not to try to run this thing.  I would need to finish in under 2:30, which would not support the pace I pulled for the 1/2 in Disneyland.  Of course not every race get ran in 108 degrees, especially in December.  I just thought it might be a good prep for the Disney World full.  What I might do is wait until we get closer and eveluate the pace at which I am running my long runs to see if it would work for me.

I am adjusting my training schedule again.  I know, I know, part of the reason to have a schedule is to prevent tinkering, but my butt still hurts from Burn and Shape.  I might be moving my FIRM workout to tomorrow.  However after just having left the business tenant picnic I might need my workout tonight to combat the cole slaw, potato salad, pasta salad and cookie.  😛

Sucky Run

Thursday, September 13th, 2007

My run tonight wasn’t the best.  I think it was because I headed out frustrated, overdid the first mile, and then really felt my burning biscuits in the second.  I stopped at 2 miles.  I’ve decided to readjust this week’s training schedule accordingly by replacing my Complete Body Sculpting I have on tap for tomorrow with a much less lower body intensive Jiggle Free Arms tomorrow.

My Biscuits are Burning

Thursday, September 13th, 2007

So I did Burn and Shape last night.  Wow!  My buns are sore today.  I only burned about 300 calories, but I got a really great lower body sculpting workout.  I think I should still be able to run tonight, but the hills in my neighborhood are going to be a little tough.  I think I might have to rethink my choice of Complete Body Sculpting for tomorrow’s workouts.  As FIRM workouts go these are both lower body instense and I don’t want to overdo it.

My favorite magazine, Her Sports and Fitness, has an offer right now where you buy 1 get 1 free in subscriptions.  If anyone is interested let me know and I can send you the code since I won’t be using it.  I think my subscription is already paid up through the next year.  🙂  I like this magazine so much I joined their running time.  I have a hat, socks I run in and a singlet I could run in if it weren’t for my belly bulging, lol.

Officially Started Training

Wednesday, September 12th, 2007

So last night I officially started training for my full marathon.  What does “officially” mean?  Well when people ask I will say “I am training for a full marathon” rather than “I am training for a half-marathon.”  My first run was supposed to be 3-4 easy miles, but the weather was so beautiful I couldn’t help myself.  I did 4 miles at a pace ranging from 12:12 to 11:58.  That is faster for me for a training run, so it was more like a 4 mile tempo run.  Feel great today and have a FIRM workout on tap for later.  This one is Burn and Shape, which I haven’t done yet, but I did preview and it looks pretty tough.  If you have ever seen Emily Welsh, the FIRM instructor, she looks sweet and innocent (heck she used to teach music at an elementary school), but when it comes to working out she can really kick your butt!  I will post a review of the workout tomorrow.

Last night started the season for the Biggest Loser.  Ryan, the first member of my Fantasy League team lost 15 lbs.  Go Ryan!  Had to choose two more players today.  I chose Phil, team captain of the red team.  He just looks like he is going to be a good leader and a good role model for the rest of the teams.  I think he has great staying power and can continue to pull some large numbers.  For my first female player I chose Patty.  In her interview she explained that joining the BL was a life or death decision for her because she had some bad blood tests.  That is what kind of kicked off my own weight loss journey and it made me relate to her.  She also looks a good bit like I did when I started.  I can’t wait to cheer them both on as well as Ryan.  Go K80K’s FIRMin8tors!
