The Squirrel Apokalypse

Thursday, January 16th, 2003

I was driving home from work today. The quickest route off of the beltway takes me through an apartment complex and next to one of the entrances is this big old tree. I glance at the tree and notice a squirrel at the bottom and the way it was standing made it look like it was praying. Upon further investigation I notice there are 4 squirrels standing around the tree all in the same stance. It was one of the wierdest things I have ever seen in my life. I am pretty sure this phenomenon was brought to me by the fact that it is winter, and the squirrels were hungry, but it was almost like seeing that guy on the street with the “The end is near” sign.

27 the Number of Success

Why do I like the number 27? Because the the number of pounds I have lost so far. I attribute it all to working-out. Gotta love the Tae Bo!

Hate on the Web but nothing by Love for Lonnie

Monday, January 13th, 2003

One of my favorite places to spend time on the web has for a long time been HBF. Recently I haven’t been posting very much because it has been hard to find conversations that I wanted to jump in on and there has been some mad posting going on, making it hard to keep up with a conversation. Recently there has been a lot of anger expressed on the forumz. I will never understand why people need to take things so seriously. When you jump into an environment such as a message board you are going to set yourself up for someone to make fun of you. Whether the person is kidding or not, shouldn’t matter. Anyway, I just wanted to take an opportunity (even though it isn’t on their own site) to say that at least 1 person appreciates the effort that Valrik, Butah and Danielle put into the site.

Good news! Dad made it through his lay-off day at his job. I am sure by now everyone is familiar with John Rusnak, the guy that brought Allfirst to it’s knees. Dad did however lose a lot of really good people. Some of them meant a lot to him, so I know the bank will never be the same to him.

The other day I was out eating dinner with my brother and my parents, when my brother mentioned that someone we used to work with at Office Depot passed away from a brain tumor. It happened about a year ago, but this guy was in his early 30’s and had a young daughter that meant the world to him. He was one of those people that always made you smile and always seemed to be happy as long as you were happy. He always wanted me to meet the right guy…he kept telling me to go to the library or to church because those were the places to meet the really good guys. Lonnie was a good guy, and even though I haven’t spoken to him for a long time, he is still on a deeper level really missed. R.I.P.

When Mice Attack

Sunday, January 12th, 2003

Got some work done on my brother’s site. Even had a chance to make a small link to his page, which you can see to the right. There isn’t anything beyond the Splash screen at the moment, but if you have a chance, go check it out.

Took advantage of being up early this morning to finally get some more work done on this site. I added some buttons to the left. They don’t work just yet because most of them point to just the “Coming Soon” page, but they should work soon. Also made some small cosmetic changes and added some more links to the right.

Sounds like my parents had some fun with the mice last night. We have a closet underneath our sink in our kitchen which has a bar so that we can hang towels inside it for easy retrieval when washing the dishes. This is where we found our evidence of their existence yesterday, so Dad put a trap just inside the door. Mom went to grab a towel last night but left the room screaming. My Dad turned to see the mouse in the trap and the trap stuck to the towel, but the mouse was not dead. It was squealing and writhing because it was hurt and it was suspended from the towel. Mom said she ran upstairs, jumped in bed, and didn’t come back downstairs for the rest of the night. Dad put the poor creature out of its misery and disposed of it. There has got to be a more humane, yet affordable, way to dispose of pesky rodents

Mouse Poop

Saturday, January 11th, 2003

We finally found material evidence of mice in the house. Yes we found some terds. I know to most people that doesn’t sound like a good thing, but to me it is evidence that I am not completely crazy.

I know I have yet to make any more progress on my web site. I have been working on my brother’s site. There isn’t much up there yet, but I am working on some stuff on my hard drive. Trust me, it will be well worth the wait.
