Tearing the Building in 2

Wednesday, November 12th, 2003

So they are almost done putting up the wall that will close off the one side of our building from the other so that they can tear out the middle physically split our building in two. They have moved everyone over but me and Joann, so we are just hanging tight waiting for our e-mail telling us we are being moved. Hopefully we will hear it soon because it is really quiet over here now.

We think the move is stirring up some bugs because there is a surplus of little nats around the building at the moment. They managed to get into the packages with my bagels and holiday bread in it, so I had to throw both of them out 🙁 Evil little bugs.

Last night Apok hosted HBF radio with sidekick Sqwee. They did a really good job. Hopefully they will continue it with a SkullzDotRadio show. I will keep you posted.

Iron Deficiancy?

Monday, November 10th, 2003

So this morning I got to work and just minutes later my co-worker showed up with bagels, a holiday bread, and a chocolate mousse cake. A week late? Well yes, but I still appreciate it very much.

I went to the doctor’s on Friday for my yearly physical. There are some concerns that I may be anemic, so on December 9th I am going back for some bloodwork. Most likely it is the iron deficiency form of anemia, which can easily be treated with some iron supplements and eating more red meat. The symptoms I have are very minimal (cold hands and some bruising), so it isn’t really affecting my life, but it is better to find out and treat it then keep wearing my gloves at the computer.

Schedule Woes

Tuesday, November 4th, 2003

As Mynx so beautifully put it, yesterday was my birthday. Yes, I am now a quarter of a century old. I wasn’t really expecting much, but I thought at least one person at work would have remembered my special day. Fortunately, thanks to people like Apok and the folks over at SDO my feelings of no love didn’t last very long. No one at work has yet figured out that they forgot my birthday, but who needs em’!

I have been having issues with my schedule for the Spring. I had originally been planning on taking a course in Reusable Software Components (yes, that would be javabeans), however it was only being offered from 7:15 to 10 PM on the Montgomery County campus. That is about 1 hour and 15 minutes from my house. I couldn’t see myself driving that far that late at night. I decided to try to take the follow up class to the one I am taking now, Enterprise Computing in Java. So I filled out the forms requesting that my advisor change my program plan and sent it off to the registrar’s office. I received a phone call today telling me that that class is being cancelled in the fall. Back to the drawing board.

My program plan had me taking 2 700-level classes in the Spring semester to finish my degree. I decided to take another look at the graduation requirements and realized that I was actually taking 3 more 700-level courses than are required to graduate. I have now requested to be moved to a 400-level class in Graphical User Interfaces with Java Component Classes (woot-woot Swing!). I think it will make my spring semester much easier and I think learning more of the in’s-and-out’s of Swing will be fun.

This is the point where Tyrant calls me a “Dork” and I correct him to say that I am a “Geek” and stick my tongue out at him.

No Love on my BDay

I’m seriously not feeling the love today 🙁
