Also, I dropped a blog off at SDO, so go check it out.

Home Sweet New Home!!!

Friday, April 9th, 2004

So I am pretty sure I just bought a house tonight. I put in a deposit but no contracts are signed yet, which of course leaves me nervous. I won’t say too much more so that I don’t jynx myself, but just take my word on it, it is pretty sweet.

I’m Part Vampire

Thursday, April 8th, 2004

If you would have seen how my skin yesterday after just a breif time in the sun you would have thought I was part Vampire. Last I checked I didn’t have long pointy teeth…umm….nope no long pointy teeth. I was only in the sun for the time it took me to drive home from work, but my neck and arms are all red and itchy. There wasn’t even any traffic yesterday. If I start to show any desire for blood please just save me the agony and stab in the chest with a wooden stake. Thank you.

So as far as everything else goes everything is pretty much the same. I am still working on homework and looking for houses on the side. My homework has been a little tough and it is due next Thursday, so unless I find something to distract me on Saturday evening I will pretty much be in my office for staight through till Monday. Minus the time needed to eat, sleep, shower and relieve myself of course.

Another weekend…another bunch of houses.

So we spent the weekend, again looking for houses without much luck. We went to a house on Friday that still leave me a little queezy. The woman that lived there was a smoker and very messy. There was black dirt around the door knobs from never having been cleaned. The carpet was a dark dark brown. The bathroom almost looked like someone puked on the wall and never bothered to wipe it down. A floor board had come loose in the kitchen and it from years of being walked over had managed to punch itself through the vinyl flooring.

I looked at two very beautiful houses yesterday, but the one doesn’t allow fencing and the other was really expensive and didn’t have a deck or fence, so I couldn’t afford it all.

I had declared this weekend my last searching weekend. I have two projects due in 10 days that I need to get done and I can’t be distracted by house hunting. After April 29th I will take another look at this stuff and see what I can find.

DT in DC

Thursday, April 1st, 2004

So Monday afternoon Apok, Nick and I climbed into my truck to head off to the Dream Theater show in DC. Our first stop was to pick up our navigator, Brian. We hit virtually no traffic on the way there and were able to get into the lot owned by the 9:30 club, which according to Brian, was the only place I could park and not have my truck stolen.

We got to the show an hour early and got in line to wait for the doors to open. It was a little colder then I had thought, so standing in line without my coat was not as much fun as I had hoped it would be. It was rather amusing to listen to all the musicians around me discuss…well…instruments and music. And people call me a geek.

We got inside no problem and made our way straight to the bathrooms. We then proceeded to the floor to scope out a good place to stand. Brian headed off on his own to try to procure a spot close to the front but we then spotted him upstairs in the balcony next to a camera. We decided to join him in hopes of their being less of a crowd and a good view, which did turn out to be the case.

Part way into the first set I started to feel naucious. I think it was a combination of my being tired, the room being smokey and the balcony vibrating. Luckily we were right in front of a bathroom and I was able to run in there to get some fresh air and regain my composure. I probably spend like 30 minutes of the 3 hour long show in that bathroom catching my breath. However the bathroom was not sound proof so it did not disturb my music listening experience at all and provided me a place to sit down and ease my aching feet.

As usual the show was awesome as usual. Nick, being a gentleman, offerred me his shirt to wear on the way back to the car, but I declined. He shouldn’t have had to freeze his ass off because of my own stupidity. Thanks to Brian’s expert directions and an illegal left-hand turn we were back on our way back home with no trouble. Apok and Brian both slept on the way home, and after dropping Brian off we headed to Taco Bell for some late night snackage.

It was a good time and I finally got to enjoy a Dream Theater show with the person who introduced me to them. Hopefully they will be around to Pier 6 again this summer and I can enjoy them from the comfort of a chair. 😀
