It is that time of year again. So go visit Child’s Play and help to brighten the holidays for a sick child. I donated last year to help them raise over $250,000 for the Seattle Children’s Hospital. This year they have taken on more hospitals so the more buzz we can generate about this awesome program the better.
After several hours camped in front of the TV with a remote in my hand I managed to see my man’s commerical twice and one time I actually managed to tape it. Funny part is it looks like the same one I captured is the same one he captured and put on his website. Check it out if you have the time.
Yesterday Dana and I hopped in the car and ventured out to North East, MD. This was my first time out into this little town, which I must say is adorable. Our destination was The Victorian Teacup for Lori’s bridal shower. It was a fun time. We got to sit for an authentic English tea, with scones, clotted cream, and cucumber sandwiches. Afterwards we decided to wander the town and look in some of the shops.
We went into the 5&10 Antique store on Main St to see what types of goodies they had. I found a nice little something-something for my Mom for her birthday. As I was looking through the aisles of dishes and furniture I spotted a gentleman that looked an awful lot like my brother’s lacrosse coach. Since Dana and Lori both went to my high school I consulted them for confirmation. Lori walked up and talked to him and discovered that it was in fact him. That was a surprise considering we were about an hour away from the high school we at once all called home.
I took the dog out this morning for her brisk walk just like every other morning. She went #1 right away, so I decided to take her for a little more of a walk before I put her in the car. We travel for a little bit then she starts to go #2. She never goes #2 on our morning walks. I pull out one of my blue baggies from the handy disepencer I have attached to her leash. I bend down to scoop up the present she made me and WACK! My name badge goes right into the steaming pile. Thoroughly grossed out I grab my badge with one hand and the baggy with the other. I make a line straight for the trash can to deposit the present and then I run for the house. I took a Clorox disinfecting wipe and cleaned my badge really good. Still grosses me out to think about it though.
So yesterday turned out to be a very good day. I knew that no one at work knew it was my birthday, so I wasn’t too concerned about that. Then at our morning meeting my boss starts singing Happy Birthday to me. We went out to lunch for Boss’ Day (I know, but it is better late than never) where my co-workers surprised me with a piece of cake and then paid for my lunch. It was all a very pleasant surprise.
Mom spent the day at my house cleaning. It was so nice to walk into an extremely clean house and not having to lift a single finger to get it there. John showed up shortly after I arrived home to cook me a birthday dinner. We had scampi with Spanish rice. It was very delicious. He then gave me the most awesome gift. I drawing of the two of us with a the ticket stub from what would be considered our first date. I absolutely love it. So does Mom, she wants a copy, lol.
After dinner we sat and watched the Muppets Take Manhattan. While we were sitting there the phone rings. Dad was in Vegas on business for my birthday, so I told him he had to put $20 in the Wheel of Fortune for me. This machine is Tryant’s favorite, and probably the only one I know by name. So last night he travelled down to the MGM and put $20 in the machine for me. Well luck being on my side, I guess because of the whole birthday thing, he won $200. He called to ask if I wanted to let it ride or I wanted the money. Not being a risky person I decided to take the $200. I talked to Mom this morning and Dad continued to put another $30 into the machine, but didn’t win any more money.
