In 12 hours…

Wednesday, April 30th, 2008

…I will be getting ready to leave for the airport.   It has been a stressful couple of days at work, so I am very happy to be getting out of here.

Mine and Tillie’s bags are packed and ready to go.  Yes, the dog has a bag to take to her dog walker’s with her.  It is packed with food and all of the treats she could possibly need.  I counted out the amount that she usually gets from me during the week.  I am curious to see how many come back, lol.

I am heading down for my last FIRM workout before I return home from Florida.  I have all of the equipment I need down there, but with two races this weekend trying to squeeze in a workout will be impracticle.  My plans right now inlude an easy 3 miles tomorrow to test out my new running skirt.  Then Saturday I have the 5K and Sunday I have the 15K.  Monday will be a rest day as I travel home and then Tuesday I will jump into a new rotation.

I am sure I will check in after both races this weekend thanks to Mom’s Florida dial-up.  Blech!

Inaugural Run

Saturday, April 26th, 2008

Home from the inaugural run of the Blue Crab running club.  It was a great success.  Tawanda and I headed out for 8 miles.  The weather was great and the trail was beautiful.  It was actually pretty crowded and points, but we kept moving forward.  Time seemed to fly by with non-stop conversation.  We will definitely be doing this again.  We came in at 1:43:02 for the full 8 miles, but I think I might have lost the satellite somewhere because we ran out to just past the 4 mile marker on the trail then turned around and came back and ended up .10 mile short.  We ran till the GPS said we were at a full 8.  I am thinking maybe when I upload my run to MotionBased it might give me a more accurate mileage.  Fingers Crossed.

Blue Crab Running Club

Saturday, April 26th, 2008

This morning is the inaugural run of what I am referring to as the Blue Crab Running Club.  I should probably google that in ensure that one doesn’t already exist.  Actually I will blackle it!  Everyone should start using blackle instead of google because it uses less energy.  Seriously!

Oh yeah, back to the running club.  I am kind of considering it an East Coast branch of the Tumbleweed Running Club.  Right now it consists of me and Tawanda.  I am hoping to get Jeff out running with us some time too.  Considering we all have races on May 4th (Me the Minnie, Tawanda and Jeff both in Frederick) and we are all running the Survivor Harbor 7 I thought it made for good timing recovery and mileage wise.  I am afraid I might slow the groip down though.  :/  I figure even if we only get to meet once a month it is something we will all have to look forward to.  🙂

What to buy?

Friday, April 25th, 2008

So the announcement has been made that our economic stimulus packages will be arriving early.  Yay money!  I of course have already started spending it.  :)  How can I not?  And of course I am spending it on running related stuff.

My first purchase was a running skirt from runningskirts.com.  I have on a previous occassion purchased a running skirt but unfortunately I have a little too much in the booty to wear it.  Just try to picture the skirt fitting nicely in the front then being 2 inches shorter in the back with the compression shorts exposed.  Yeah…not too cute huh?  I decided to make another shirt purchase and try again.  The new one hasn’t arrived yet, but I am sure as soon as it does and I get to try it on and hopefully run in it I will post a review.

My second purchase as a new pair of walking shoes.  I walk at least 2 miles a day (when I am being good) with the monster in tow and have noticed recently that if my ankle is already a little iffy then walking the dog makes it hurt.  I have had my current walking shoes since October, so I am sure they are shot.  I hit holabirdsports.com and ordered up some new shoes and some new socks.

My third and thus far final purchase were some new hats from headsweats.com.  I already have one of their hats which I recieved for joining the Her Sports running team.  I wear it ALL the time.  It has been through the washing machine probably a dozen times and you can’t tell whatsoever.  With the warm months coming I decided it was time to get some more of them so I can rotate them while the others are in the was.  I got a white one and a pale blue one to match my skirt-for-which-I-have-too-much-booty above.  I figure when I have lost enough weight to wear the skirt I want to look really cute with a matching hat.  😀

I think whatever is left over will be put into my savings account and held there for Disneyland.  I am going there for a race so that makes the entire trip run related right?

I got out yesterday for a 5 mile run.  It was really slow.  I mean realllly slow.  It didn’t help that there were so many other runners out last night showing me exaclty how slow I was.  I think it was because of some bad eating the night before.  I have a love/hate relationship with the fact that my running reminds me that I need to eat well.  Makes me want to eat well and makes me really regret eating bad.
