Going Strong

Wednesday, July 2nd, 2008

I know I haven’t really posted much in the last week, but rest assured that I am going strong.  I am being very consistent with my workouts and despite a couple-day-slip-up last week my eating is under control.  I did post a gain at my weigh-in this week but it was gone the very next day.

I am continuing to enjoy my yoga classes.  I actually feel like it is making my ankle stronger, or at least more flexible, which is helping with my tendency towards tendonitis.  I am already noticing increases in my flexibility and continue to leave class feeling nice and tall.  The next morning I have even noticed some mild DOMS in the muscles I worked the previous day.

I know I was very tentative about having a “short easy” run each week but I actually find that it seems to be helping me with my consistency in my running.  It is difficult to find excuses for why you should skip a 2 mile run when you stack it up against a 7-10 mile long run.  I think my body is really preferring it as well over my “5-milers only” weekday schedule that I had been following for years.

I love the fact that I can say “years” at the end of the last sentence in the previous sentence.  Yes on June 26th I celebrated my Runniversary again.  I am now starting my forth year of running.  It is unbelievable how far I have come!

Sunscreen Study…

Tuesday, July 1st, 2008

I was wandering around on the web today and came across a story on cnn.com that eventually led me to this website.  This group did a study of what seems to be every sunscreen known to man.  In any given day I use 4 different sunscreens (Neutrogena Ultra Sheer, Coppertone Sport, Aveeno Daily Moisturizer, and Mary Kay) and they ALL are rated poorly on this study.  In fact all of them have a cancer causing agent and at least one TESTS ON ANIMALS!!!  Time for me o do some shopping for a new sunscreen.  😛
