Ozfest
So this weekend the SkullzDotCrew wandered out to the Ozfest. This was my first Ozfest experience and I rather enjoyed it. We accidently got on 495 going in the wrong direction on the way there, so it took a little longer than we had wanted it to. This caused some of the crew to miss Cradle of Filth, but we made it in time to see all of the acts that I wanted to see: Disturbed, Korn, Manson and Ozzy.
This was the second time I had seen Distrubed play and last time they were the headlining act, so their set was much shorter than I was accustomed to, but they did get to play a lot of the new stuff that I hadn’t heard them play live before, which was pretty cool. They had a large copy of the symbol off their album hanging on the curtain behind them, which I want. I tried to talk Apok and M into helping me steal it after the show so that I could hang it from my roof when I buy my house, but they weren’t cooperating. Oh well, I will just have to learn how to bend steal and make my own one day. Maybe that will be the project I can request when I sign up for Trading Spaces? Do they do roofs?
After Disturbed came on Manson took the stage. I had never seen him perform before and he lived up to everything everyone ever told me he was as a live performer. The show was great. He had lots of props worked into the show despite the short set time. He even included a scene with him wearing Mickey ears, two large banners of him wearing Mickey ears and a large blow up of his head wearing Mickey ears. He sang “It’s a Small World” and went into “Beautiful People”, which is Mom’s favorite Manson song. He would have made her proud.
Korn followed Manson. I had never seen them before either. I have one of their CDs and several MP3s, so I was looking forward to hearing them. I was able to watch this set through the armpit of the guy in front of me so that I didn’t have to stand up. I was really happy when the started playing “A.D.I.D.A.S.” becase that is by far my favorite Korn song.
The show was concluded, of course, by Ozzy taking the stage. I am afraid that his years as a live performer may be limited. He can still get the words out and his singing voice is still there, but the words don’t surface as fast as they need to. He also missed some words. I had vowed to stay awake for his entire performance though because I had fallen asleep during his set at Merry Mayhem. What can I say? After watching Zombie bound around on stage for a while I was tired! But under no means would I actually show Zombie my ta-ta’s!
We got on 495 in the right direction on the way home and made it in no time. I was exhausted and smelly when we got back so I went straight home to shower and get to bed.
Well I am actually busy this week at work, so I am going to get back to doing my stuff.
