And the doctor said…

Tuesday, July 27th, 2004

So good news, I tested negative for Lupus and Rheumatoid Arthritis. Bad news, there is some sort of systematic inflammation in my system which may be a pre-cursor to Lupus. My Mom has been testing negative for Lupus for a really long time, but was showing the symptoms. Just recently she actually started testing positive for Lupus and every now and then she will still have a negative test come back. This apparently is a characteristic of the disease itself. My doctor recommended me to see a Rheumatologist to see if they can figure out what is going on. She hopes that if I get a doctor that treats aggressively that we can go ahead and start treating the Lupus and see if it has an impact on my test results. I guess we will have to wait till November 14th to see because that is the earliest appointment I could get with the specialist.

SED and CRP

Last Friday I went to the doctor to follow up regarding my blood pressure being high. They retook my blood pressure and my heart rate and both were perfect. I asked them to test my cholesterol because I was just curious to see what the level of bad cholesterol was. They recently dropped the ideal level for people that are high risk for heart disease and I wanted to be sure that I was within that rate.

While I was getting my blood drawn the PA that I visit decided to run some other tests that she usually runs on my Mom and usually sees come back abnormal. I just got a call today and apparently my sedimentation and c-reactive proteins are elevated.

I am a little nervous. Both of these being elevated shows that there is an inflammation somewhere in my system, but they do no indicate a source. That means more tests for me. If I look at my genetic history there is a chance that this could mean several things, but the two that come to mind that they were questioning being problems with me are rheumatoid arthritis and lupus. Hopefully the doctor can provide some more insight on Friday. I will just have to wait and see.

No Sleep for the Sleeping Arms

Tuesday, July 20th, 2004

I went out walking with Melissa last night just like old times. We were so engrosed in conversation that we passed our 2 mile goal and had walked another 1/2 mile before we realized it. After that I still had to take the monster for her walk. I ended up cutting it short because of some discomfort in my acheilles tendon.

I followed up the walks with a shower which put me in the perfect condition to want to fall straight to sleep, but it was only 8:30. So I laid and bed and worked on my book. That lasted till around 9:15 when I felt like I was going to pass out.

I shut off the light and snuggled down into my covers. For some reason I kept rolling onto my side last night, but instead of doing it the way I normally do I kept rolling onto my arms so that the circulation to them would cut off. I woke up I think 3 or 4 times last night with my arms tingling.

I woke up with my alarm but ended up laying there for several minutes trying to convince myself that I needed to get out of bed. Right now I have a feeling I look like the living dead because I can tell my eyes are half shut.

Urine Sampling: Like taking candy from a baby!

Thursday, July 15th, 2004

It was extremely easy to get the urine sample yesterday. Tillie went out and as soon as she squated I shoved the tupperware under her and got it in just the right spot. It filled up fast and actually overflowed a little. She had been holding it all day at that point I think.

We went to the vet where they massaged her tummy and stuck a thermometer up her butt. She was too distracted by the cats to even notice that much else was going on. When we went back into the lobby to wait for them to bring us her anti-biotics the cat came really close and started playing with a toy. Tillie became extremely interested and with an audience of the vet and several vet techs I started to loosen her leash a little to get a little closer to the cat.

I was more concerned for Tillie’s own well-being at this point than that of the cat’s since Tillie has a history of letting cats beat her up. She finally got close enough where she could touch the cat then out of no where I see her jaws open WIDE. I yanked back leash and the cat took off running as we head the snap of her jaws clamping down.

I was so embarassed. I am so used to saying that she wouldn’t hurt a flea! I can’t say that anymore because she apparently will hurt cats.

Blech and Woo

So I didn’t get that job I interviewed for. 🙁 I am very disappointed, but what can I really do about it?

In better news, the Senate did stop the gay marriage amendment, let’s just hope it sticks.
