I just joined a Volleyball team. I will be playing on Sundays at the Towson YMCA. I am excited to get back into a team sport. This should be a lot of fun!

So August, aside from getting my new job, hasn’t been a good month. I will probably be attending my third viewing of the month tonight. All three viewings have been for men under the age of 32 that were taken by unnatural causes. I wasn’t close to any of them, but they touched my life in one way or another. Either they were a friend from way back when or close to someone I consider a friend. That kind of stuff just has a way of wearing on the spirit.

September should start a little better with a trip to the happiest place on earth. However, I again find myself taking a vacation in September with a threat of a hurricane joining me. Last time I got to make a run for it to get away from Isabelle and this year I get to hang out with Francis. Damn tropical depressions!

I fly out Thursday and come back next Wednesday. Then I will have two more days at Lucent. I will really miss everyone here, but I know I am moving on to bigger and better things and that I am saving the job of someone that I care for here in Hunt Valley. After those two days I have a weekend break then I get to start at the new job. I am really excited to get there and get started. Come on September 13th!

RIP Jeff Hamilton and Kevin Anderson

I’ve been a bad, bad web master. I really blame my absense from the web on work though. I am trying to rush through the development of a tool so that I have it done before I leave Lucent. If my plans are successful I will actually have it all done this afternoon so that it can go into testing next week. Fingers crossed.

There’s not much else going on. I am considering getting a puppy. I know Tillie would love to have a puppy around, it is just a matter of getting the rest of the family to agree. I have been trying to think of a name for the new puppy. My grandfather helped me in naming Tillie, which is short for Tilicum. He had told me that it was Native American for “friend”. My mother had the idea to try to find another Native American word that means friend to use as a name for the other puppy. As I was searching I cam across this story and this story. If you look at both those stories it turns out that Tilicum means either “white man” or just “man”. So I have named my black female dog, white man. Hmm…

For those of you I didn’t speak to over the weekend I have really great news! I got a new job! I am really excited because this position sounds like exactly what I have been looking for in the exact location I was looking for a job in. I will start there the 13th of September. I am going to try to finish up all of my current projects that I am working on at Lucent. I also have a trip to Disney World coming up from the 2nd of September to the 8th. This will by my first trip down to see Mom and Dad’s house, so I am also pretty excited about that too.
