Positive this time…

Tuesday, July 24th, 2007

For those of you that migh have been around for a while you might recall some posts in the past where I through I was anemic.  Last week I underwent some more tests again to see if I was anemic.  This time the came back positive.  It explains so much of what I have been going through lately.  I had gotten so used to being cold it hadn’t occurred to me that having my air conditioner on 80 wasn’t the norm and that it was okay to keep going to bed at 9 and still not be able to get up in the morning.

My biggest concern though was that it was affecting my runs.  I can’t run a half marathon if I can’t get my mileage up to 10 miles at a time.  Last night I got my test results and then proceeded out the door for the best run I have had in some time.  I was misreading my exhaustion as lack of motivation.  I will make that mistake no more.  Stopping on my way home today to get some iron pills and maybe a steak.

1 in 8.2 Million

Yes, I admit it.  I was one of the 8.2 million fans to purchase Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows within the first 24 hours of its release.  In fact I was one in however many to purchase it within the first hour of release then rush home and to start reading so that I could have it done before anyone else spoiled it for me.  I think it was a very fitting end to the saga.  I am not in morning for the end of the series either.  Rowling left me feeling satisfied that the story could end.  Let’s face it I am getting too old to keep camping out at midnight for the books, lol.

So I have been nursing a stomach thing on and off for the last week.  As we speak my stomach is starting to bubble again.  I have also been nursing some tendonitis.  Between the two my running has really sufferred.  I plan to go home and run tonight though.  The weather is absolutely beautiful for it and I won’t let my ankle stand in my way, though I will ice it before and after and take some antiinflammatories as well.  😉

Directed Advertising

So I am sitting here reading and article about a poor little boy whose mother’s boyfriend knocked him into a closet door and the poor baby died as a result of his injuries.  Whoever wrote the advertising software sees “closet” and I get to look at an ad for closet organizers in the middle of the story.  To me that seems to be in poor taste.

I didn’t realize how tight I had commenting locked down.  I was actually feeling a little lonely with no comments being made.  I am still requiring registration, but at least now you have the ability to register.  😉

Today was my 6K and I am so glad I decided to do it. This is the first time I haven’t pre-registered for a race. I just wanted to see what the weather would be like and this morning it was perfect weather for running. I did this one by myself because Dad’s knees are still acting up and there was no way Mike was getting up early enough to join me. I didn’t need anyone with me though. This race comes pre-packed with lots of motivation. First off it is a parade route run. There were probably thousands of people lining the streets clapping as we went through. Also this race covered my grandfather’s old neighborhoods, so I got to spend my time thinking of the great memories I have of him. In recent years they actually redid the layout of this race so it passes right past his old front door. I decided to treat this as my speed training for the week so I pushed myself to run at a faster pace. In fact I improved my pace from the 7-miler by 1 minute per mile. Yay me!
